BARBERTON: Police were called to a Lilac Place home for a man threatening others with a gun July 15. A woman told police the man who had just been released from jail, was intoxicated and kicked the door. She also said the man said he would kill her and her son. Warrants for aggravated menacing and assault were issued for the man.Officers were called to a Wooster Road North store July 15 by employees who said a woman stole a large tub of potato salad and walked out of the store. Officers stopped the vehicle the woman was driving, charged her with failure to comply and obstruction and took her to the Barberton City Jail.Police received a call about a man and woman July 15 walking in yards and in between houses. The woman would not give officers her name and was charged with obstruction. Police issued a warrant for the man on charges of obstruction after he ran off.Officers stopped a speeding driver July 16 and spoke with the man. The East Paige Avenue man was found with methamphetamine and was charged with possession of drugs.Police were called to a 23rd Street Northwest apartment complex for an intoxicated man July 17. Officers found the Enon man passed out in the lobby and charged him with disorderly conduct.A YMCA employee told police July 17 a man came into the building saying he was dying. The 24th Street Southwest man told officers he took fentanyl and they charged him with disorderly conduct and banned him from the YMCA.Police were called to a Wooster Road North store July 18 for a shoplifter. An employee told police a man took a basket full of items and attempted to pay for them but his card was declined. He then ran out of the store with the basket of items. Police were unable to locate him.A woman told police her boyfriend was beating her up July 18. Following an investigation, warrants for domestic violence threats and aggravated menacing were issued for the man. The next day the man was arrested on his warrants.Officers were called July 18 to a Wooster Road North business for a theft. A homeless woman told police she has been sleeping in a shed and someone stole her belongings.Police questioned a man on the ground behind an East State Street business July 19. The Whitehouse man attempted to leave, but officers arrested him and charged him with obstruction and criminal trespassing.A woman told police July 19 a group of juveniles were outside her house trying to fight her daughter. Officers located four juveniles and charged them with disorderly conduct. The daughter was also charged after she told one juvenile she was going to beat them.Police responded to a report of a truck and trailer parked on South Van Buren Avenue July 20. Officers saw the truck near a dumpster loaded with metal objects and two men told police they took metal from the dumpster. Both men were charged with scavenging and one of the men was taken to the Jail on a warrant.Officers charged three juveniles sitting in a parked car on the street July 20 around 3 a.m. with curfew violations and notified their parents.A Normandy Circle man reported July 20 someone stole his bike from his back patio.Police responded to an intoxicated man on Wooster Road North stumbling into traffic July 21. The man was charged with disorderly conduct and taken to the Jail.

COVENTRY: A Raceside Drive woman reported July 20 her boyfriend punctured a tire on her vehicle following an argument. Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the South Main Street man and charged him with criminal damaging.A man turned over to deputies two cellphones he found on Portage Lakes Drive July 21.Employees of a Manchester Road restaurant reported July 21 a man was loitering, disturbing customers and not making a purchase. Deputies advised the Upson Street man to leave and that he was banned from the property.On July 21 deputies responding to complaints and parking violations at a vacation rental home on Cargo Avenue spoke to a Balch Street man who stated he had been filming a music video at the house and most of the people involved had gone. Several vehicles, which were parked on neighbors’ property or blocking traffic on the street, were moved to the driveway. The owner of the residence stated the policy regarding the number of occupants permitted in the house had been violated and asked for a report she could forward to the vacation rental broker. Neighbors reported ongoing problems with the rental of the house and deputies advised them the issue was a civil matter. The following day a Comet Road woman who owns the home called deputies for people who had returned for another party. Deputies advised everyone to leave and they did so. Inside the home deputies found a loaded gun and a bag containing 95 grams of suspected marijuana.On July 23 deputies investigating a vehicle in the parking lot of a Cormany Road school spoke to two men who stated they were taking metal from nearby dumpsters. The driver of a pickup truck took responsibility for items in the truck and the Barberton man was charged with possession of two drug pipes. Both men were taken to the Summit County Jail on outstanding warrants.A security officer of a Ley Drive business reported July 23 a man living in a wooded area near the business used a broken bottle to threaten an employee working at an oil well. Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the man.A Flora Avenue man was arrested for the theft of $98 in items from a Manchester Road store July 26.Employees reported a woman ran from a Manchester Road store with unpaid items July 27, dropping some items as she ran. Deputies located the West Waterloo Road woman as she entered another store and charged her with theft and possession of drug paraphernalia found in her backpack.

GREEN: Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies investigating reports of people outside an Interstate Parkway business July 21 spoke to two men from Carrollton and Richmond who were taking tires from dumpsters. At the request of the business manager, the men returned them to the dumpster and left.Deputies investigated the theft of two bicycles from the back patio of a Midway Court home July 21.Following reports from employees of a Greensburg Road business, deputies removed bones from a nearby wooded area July 22. The county medical examiner determined they were from an animal.Also on July 22, deputies responded to a fight involving about a dozen people at a Town Park Boulevard restaurant. The fight started when employees attempted to remove two men who were fighting and two men and a woman who were with one of the combatants began kicking and punching employees as they escorted them out. Another man involved in the original fight left before deputies arrived. Security officers and employees retreated inside the bar and attempted to lock the door while the crowd pulled, kicked and pounded it. When deputies arrived the business owner came out talk to them and several in the crowd spit on him. Deputies arrested five people on multiple counts of assault, three men and one woman were additionally charged with disorderly conduct and one woman and two men were additionally charged with resisting arrest and obstruction. One man was from Hartville and the others were from Canton, and all were taken to the Jail.Employees of an East Turkeyfoot Lake Road business reported July 23 someone cut a hole in a fence to enter the property and steal catalytic converters from seven vehicles. Deputies requested video surveillance and told employees to advise the vehicle owners to file theft reports.On July 24 a Chenoweth Road woman reported a wallet was stolen from a vehicle outside her home and an Eagle Drive woman reported her wallet was stolen from a vehicle outside her apartment.The owner of a Mayfair Road business reported an ongoing problem involving theft from his company truck and stated July 24 the alternator was stolen.Deputies reviewed video surveillance from a Brookline Road business July 25 while investigating a break in. The video showed a man entering several tractor-trailers to steal items that included six CB radios, six AC/DC converters, tools and three $900 electronic logging devices.Also on July 25, deputies responded to a disturbance at Troon Drive and Raber Road, where a man and woman reported they were directing traffic when the driver of a pickup truck attempted to drive on a closed road, cursed at them and threatened to shoot them before driving away. Deputies contacted the Ravenna man, who admitted being at the location, and charged him with two counts of menacing.City workers reported July 25 two men in an SUV were turfing soccer fields while drinking beer. They provided a description of the men and vehicle and deputies searched the area but were unable to locate them. They determined the vehicle had been associated with a domestic incident in Akron, identified the person who had been driving and found the men in the vehicle in the parking lot of a Fortuna Drive hotel. The men were arrested as they began walking away from vehicle. Deputies found open and empty cans of beer in the vehicle and mud and foliage on the wheels and other parts. A Middlebury Avenue man was charged with having an open container of beer in a vehicle and an Alliance man was taken to the Jail for failure to disclose personal information, vandalism, driving under suspension and having an open container of beer in a vehicle.Employees called deputies to a Corporate Woods Parkway store July 26 after a Sixth Street Southwest couple concealed merchandise and left. The couple was charged with theft and banned from the store and the woman was released to Cuyahoga Falls Police Department on multiple warrants.A woman reported July 26 cash and clothing were stolen from her vehicle parked on Glen Eagles Boulevard.A Yale Street man was charged with theft and banned from an Arlington Ridge Road store July 27 after he concealed merchandise and left without paying for it.

LAKEMORE: Police were called July 17 to a Krumroy Road property for someone with a trailer dumping garbage there and then trying to burn it.Police were called to a Canton Road store July 21 for a man who came in and concealed a sweatsuit and pants and attempted to leave without paying for them. An employee confronted the man and he pushed her in the face and fled on foot.Officers were called to a Front Street home July 22 after a woman reported someone broke into the home and stole items.Officers were called to an Oneida Avenue home July 22 by a man who told police a vehicle hit his mailbox and left.Police were called to Sanitarium Road home July 23 after a man reported a juvenile rushed at his vehicle. The man said he yelled at the juvenile, who then fled. When he got home his trash cans were knocked over and his mailbox was damaged.Officers responded to Pawnee Boulevard July 24 for a juvenile who pulled a knife on someone. The juvenile tried to flee when officers attempted to arrest him and he kicked an officer in the stomach in that process. He was charged with felony assault on an officer, obstruction and resisting arrest.Police responded to a Canton Road business July 25 for a man using a bad check.Police were called to a Canton Road business July 29 for a man who shoplifted, but store officials decided not to press charges although they wanted him banned from the store. The Tonawanda Avenue man was taken to the Summit County Jail on a warrant.

NEW FRANKLIN: An Eastview Drive man said he was trimming his bushes July 24 when a neighbor threw a chair over the fence, almost hitting him. The woman said the man was on her property trimming his bushes on his fence line and she felt he was going to trim her tomato plants. The Johns Road woman was charged with attempted assault.Police stopped a driver with an expired registration July 24, found the Canton woman was driving under suspension and charged her with that offense.Officers stopped a driver who committed marked lane violations July 24 and determined the man had multiple suspensions and a warrant out of the Akron Police Department. A bag of marijuana was found in the center console along with two scales in the trunk. The Reed Avenue man was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and turned over to the Akron police on his warrant.Police stopped a driver who made a marked lane violation July 25 and determined the man was driving under suspension. The Marshallville man was cited and his vehicle was towed.Officers stopped a vehicle with an expired registration July 26. The driver did not have a driver’s license and a bag of methamphetamine, a loaded handgun and a shotgun were found in the vehicle. The man was charged with possession of drugs and having a weapon while under disability and taken to the Summit County Jail.Officers called for a welfare check about a woman heard screaming July 29 spoke to a man and woman who said they were not involved. Officers could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside their vehicle, and the man said he had a medical card for the marijuana but could not produce it. Police found marijuana in the center console and charged the Dayton man with its possession.Officers stopped a driver for a loud exhaust July 29 and spoke with the driver. They determined his license was suspended and found hypodermic needles, drugs and notebooks with Social Security numbers and account numbers in the vehicle. The Marietta man was charged with possession of drug instruments and cited for having a loud exhaust.

SPRINGFIELD: The following people were charged with theft between July 9-15 after stealing from a South Arlington Road store: a Cutler Parkway man after he selected a backpack, put merchandise inside and left without paying for it; a Treeside Drive man after he failed to scan an item and was taken to the Summit County Jail on a warrant; a Spellman Court woman who concealed merchandise in her purse; a man who stole $1,100 worth of fishing equipment; a Clay Street man after he took security tags off items and left; a 23rd Street man after he put $183 in items in a backpack and left; a North Jenkins Boulevard man and Darrow Road woman after they put items in bags without scanning them; a Tampa Avenue woman after she failed to scan $70 worth of merchandise; a 23rd Street woman after she concealed $714 in merchandise in a purse; a Cross Street man after he concealed items in a bag and left, and was charged with possession of drugs and paraphernalia after being found with a glass methamphetamine pipe and a crystal-like substance; and a man after he stole a beard growth roller.Police were called to a South Arlington Road restaurant July 9 after an employee said she left her phone on the edge of a booth while she was working and someone stole it.Police attempted to stop a driver with warrants July 9, but she went through a stop sign and drove on the opposite side of the road before stopping and then running off into the woods. After a short foot pursuit, the Mohawk Trail woman was arrested and charged with failure to comply and taken to the Jail.Officers called to a Ewart Drive home July 10 for a domestic incident found a man with injuries to his face and chest. The man told police a woman smashed a glass ashtray on top of his head while he was sleeping. The woman told police she was punched in the face, but officers did not see any signs of injuries. The woman was charged with domestic violence and taken to the Jail.Police were called to a South Arlington Road store July 11 by an employee who said a man entered an unsecured rear door and removed a box with seven used cellphones inside.Police were called to a South Arlington Road store July 13 by an employee who told police a man concealed merchandise in a trash can in his cart and passed all points of sale. The Whitney man had fled into the nearby woods but officers located him and charged him with theft.Officers stopped a vehicle July 13 with expired plates and found the driver was driving under suspension and had a warrant out of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. Police also found methamphetamine in the West Turkeyfoot Lake Road woman’s purse and charged her with possession of drugs.A man reported July 13 speakers were stolen from his personal water craft while it was parked on Canfield Road.Police located a stolen vehicle on South Columbine Avenue July 14. They spoke with the man and woman who were inside the vehicle and found a rifle and a box of bullets in the vehicle along with other gun parts and ammunition. The Goodyear Boulevard man was charged with having weapons under disability, receiving stolen property and obstruction and taken to the Jail.Officers stopped a driver July 15 for license plates that did not match the vehicle. They found methamphetamine in the center console and charged the South Main Street man with possession of drugs.Police stopped a driver July 15 for having no visible license plate. Officers spoke with the driver and found a crack pipe and crack cocaine in her purse. The Myersville Road woman was charged with possession of drugs.
